A costly form of leadership

Friday, January 11th, 2008

A desire to make a difference for God will lead our students in many unexpected directions.  Simon Tuck who was part of the SWYM tutor group for some time is currently in Nairobi with an ICY team one of whose members has been shot in the stomach by the police.   His presence in Kenya has coincided with the recent riots in that land.  Members of the team are drawn from both of the warring tribes and are helping to mediate at a local level.  Simon has been able to work as a volunteer to get aid to parts of Nairobi that have been devastated by the destruction of homes and property.

A number of newspapers in the South West of England are using Simon as “their man in Nairobi” and so he is wiring reports of the situation on the ground to them as well as acting as a local channel for aid sent from that part of the country.  It’s missional leadership, it’s costly and it will have impact.
