Conversation around the emerging church

In that context I wanted to meet with him to ask the question, what kind of event (if any) would those in the emerging church scene want to be part of? That’s not a hugely profound question but it is a very practical one and Jonny had some helpful insights around the notion of the creation of space for interaction and the kinds of issues that interest those from the world of the emerging church.

It was a good conversation made all the better by the astonishing locale of Borough Market near London Bridge. I thought I was familiar with London but I had never been to Borough Market before and it was an astonishing find. It was rather like wandering onto some kind of film set with its strange juxtaposition of 19th century markets and shops and some very up to the minute marketing. The addition of Spanish cake sellers and German sausage shops gave it a very festive feel.

The Golden HindThe final delight was to suddenly stumble across the Golden Hind, the Elizabethan ship which Sir Walter Drake used on his South American adventures. Across the river was that postmodern icon “The Gurkin” and literally round the corner was a medieval icon, Southwark Cathedral – what a mix, all within a few moments of each other.
